“Wild Bill Gelbke” one off design inspired, Corvair “6”. Most in the motorcycle collecting world that are familiar with Wild Bill Gelbke and his iconic “Road Dog” motorcycle and other motorcycles that he inspired, big, powerful and legendary will be shocked to see in this ad a “Road Dog” inspired design built by a gentleman that considered himself a student of Wild Bill Gelbke. In many ways, this bike being built in 1975 is far superior in useability and refinement to the original Road Dog styled bikes that Wild Bill built in the last half of the 20th century but still with his style and power.
As you can see from the pictures, this is a very beautiful and muscular bike and is professionally built and is a fantastic cruiser. It has been driven at speeds exceeding 135 miles an hour and yet can ride around town at 30 mph in great comfort or cruise all day on the highway at 90 mph or be an attraction at any major motorcycle show.
Youtube video available to see it driving and backing up.
Not only is it amazing to look at because of the size, it’s execution and mint condition, but also to see that awesome 1965 Corvair six cylinder motor, 140 horse power, air cooled and Power Glide automatic 2-speed transmission with reverse, right side chain drive is just truly amazing.
Yes, it is an engineering marvel and here are just a few highlights of the specs:
• The handmade swing arm frame is extra strong.
• Rear adjustable air shocks.
• The front end is 2001 Harley with Harley controls.
• Handlebars are beach bars.
• Front brake has Harley dual disc and rear is a Harley hydraulic disc.
• Harley Speedo gauge. Power pod. Ipod/MP3 hook-up and holder.
• 300 watt stereo with speakers.
• On board air compressor.
• Front headlight is Harley 2 yellow running lights and turn signals.
• Marvelous back light cluster.
Whether you take this bike on a 500 mile tour or to a motorcycle Concours d’elegance, it feels at home wherever it goes.
Just take a look at the pictures and high amount of detailing of every piece of the bike whether it is the front fork, or the brakes, the execution of the seating arrangement or the professional engineering of the mounting of the Corvair six cylinder motor in the frame. Don’t you just love the rear end look of this bike! Don’t forget to ask about the video which we can send to those interested.
When this bike is in motion it is more maneuverable than a Harley 74 and has way faster acceleration and top speed than most riders would care to execute.
Again, it becomes the center piece at any motorcycle show or just filling up with gas you will always have a crowd gathering around the bike. It runs and performs as though it is a brand new bike off the showroom floor. Bill Gelbke would be proud to have one of his dedicated students execute a bike in his style and dimensions as with this bike you see in this ad.
