This “Race Replica” model FTR1200 has only 529 miles on the odometer and is basically brand new. Originally registered 09/11/2020 the bike is merely 3 years old and has not been even used to do the first oil service at 1K miles. The bike needs nothing but someone who will actually take it our there, anywhere really, and ride it, add some miles and have some fun. The “Race Replica” version is probably the prettiest of the FTRs with the Akrapovic factory exhaust. An amazing deal!

The bike leaned over and bend both hand levers (they are ordered new from Indian and will be replaced) the muffler has minor scrape (see the video) and is the only “damage” so clearly not any riding incident.

FTR Models were introduced in 2019 and were launched as a direct competition to the Ducati Monster type bikes. Tying the FTR to the competition history of flat-track racers of pre WWII and adding nostalgia to a completely computerized bike. Fitted with gyroscopic sensitive ABS, full touch-screen display/controls and offered in three different levels of “options”. The “S” (Sport) and the “Race Replica” version both have ABS standard and feature adjustable shocks. Ride style modes from Rain, Normal and Sport allow different engine management. Wheely-control built in for safety. An engineering marvel.

The oldest motorcycle company in the US is not as most people believe Harley Davidson but Indian Motorcycle Company. Founded in 1901 two years before Harley they have been making classic iconic motorcycles for decades. During WWII the company was an essential supplier of motorcycles to the US military and after the war struggled in making the transition back to the civilian market. Their operation came to an end in the early 50s. The company was bought by Polaris in 2011, who just a few years earlier started the very successful “Victory” brand.

Polaris invested a lot of money in designing a new frame and a brand new engine for just this bike. Two years later the Chief was introduced followed a year later by the Scout. Classic lines of the long swooped fenders and the icon war bonnet on the front fender with exceptional built quality made the new Indian a feared competitor to Harley Davidson who did not have much competition before in the domestic market.
